Coruscant, the seat of power of any governing body that happens to rule the galaxy. Whoever holds Coruscant is sure to rule the galaxy in itself, save for its dark ages when the planet was merely a shell of its past self after the fall of the Galactic Empire. Coruscanti used to be the most entitled people of all those that dwelled in the galaxy, however after their hardships between 4 ABY to 37 ABY the people learned that if there is no one to take care of their money or their lives, they were just as insignificant as the rest. However that changed with the Galactic Alliance, the reborn republic that was born from the Resistance that defeated the First Order and the Sith Eternal and put an end to the long line of Darth Bane’s Sith. They were pulled back from the mud, and with years, Coruscant regained its former glory with reforms and reconstruction. However, the life on Coruscant merely returned to what it was. Those that enjoyed living in the upper levels of the massive ecumenopolis lived the high life and enjoyed the luxuries of the world. Those who dwelled in the lower levels, at the base of the many high towers that decorated the world, lived an entirely different life. But those over two thousand levels all had one thing in common; distrust in the Jedi and the government, in one way or another.

Coruscant.jpg

The Coruscanti cared little about the goings of the galaxy aside from their own hold on to their lives and their credits. As such, the absence of the Galactic Alliance and especially the Jedi was barely noticeable to Coruscanti. Or even more so, their lack of absence was a relief. Those who enjoyed their lives in higher or middle levels didn’t either care or those who truly held resources, had long dreamed that the Jedi and the Galactic Alliance would fall so that they could dictate their own livelihood as they saw fit. Those who lived on the lower levels were however tormented by the constant wars between the various gangs and criminal syndicates that served the purposes of those living above. It was a chaotic symbiosis.

IMG_3305.jpeg

The planet itself was more dead than ever, with half the power grids currently out of operation. This has resulted in half the planet turning into dead zones, with many formerly populated areas being now dim and silent. The people who lived there weren’t obviously relocated, and many died in the process of moving away from their areas—billions of dead still haunt those areas. Some homeless still inhabit those areas, in hopes of escaping them one day. Most of the richest echelon of the planet now lived in the areas surrounding the former Senate District, while the lone Great Jedi Temple remained dead and silent. No one dared to step in its vicinity however, with most believing that it was haunted by the vengeful spirits of executed Jedi.

1049 ABY, 11th Day of 11th Month

The dilapidated old temple, despite its currently pitiful state, still somehow managed to stand proudly in the face of absolute obscurity. Almost as if it was in and of itself declaring with a solemn pride that it would refuse the humiliation of an agonizing death that time would eventually inflict upon all things. Yet it still stood firm despite all of the damage it received during the Tengean Invasion. And now it stood completely abandoned to all life, save for one brooding soul who sat amongst the rubble in a deep meditative state, quietly pondering about the will of the Force as his mind's eye replayed the events of times long since passed. It was a process that the black hooded figure had repeated near religiously since his forced exile over twenty years ago. For whatever reason no matter how hard he tried, Bereon Vyr still could not extinguish the feeling of shame for being unable to save his Master when she needed him the most. It simply didn't matter what rationale or excuse he gave himself for how those events transpired. In his mind the simple fact was that he failed her and that was all there was to it. And now all he had left were memories of the past.

The lone Jedi didn't stew on it for long though as he suddenly began his daily routine walking along what remained of the Temple's massive halls, dragging his fingers across battle scarred walls as his thoughts began to shift toward recalling all the Temple's remaining knowledge that had been accumulated over the last thousand years or so. Piecing together information bit by bit, as he struggled to come up with a solution on how to best combat the current threats to the Galaxy. Utilizing his gift of Psychometry, Bereon had repeated this process over the past few decades at least thousands if not perhaps tens of thousands of times. Yet even the faint remaining echoes of this long forsaken place could not give him the answer he sought no matter how many times he attempted to retrace his steps to look through the history of these once sacred grounds from a new perspective.

"An exercise in futility again it seems", he thought to himself, no longer even bothering to acknowledge what was left of his disappointment. He was always taught that the very definition of insanity was trying the same thing over and over, but expecting a different result. Even still here he was doing just that. Had the years in total seclusion finally made him succumb to delusions of complete lunacy? Even if that was indeed the case he still needed to fulfill his duty and find a breakthrough. Too many lives depended on it.

The sequence of lights would come to a halt as the beams would retract, unveiling a planet that was similar to nearly everyone. The warbling sound of the Hyperspace Jump would come to an end immediately as they had hovered onto their location before slowly descending. The light hum inside the ship had faded as well as if it never existed. Jeh'Kant on the dashboard clicked a few buttons on the dashboard as they descending before noticing something, "That's unfortunate," He spoke out, "I seem to have forgot about the Remnant Defense Fleet haha" As they descending onto the planet, the defense fleet would become more noticeable. 10, from what he could see, Mark IX Starhawk Class Battleships awaiting their arrival. Well, not them specifically, but anyone they were not cordial with and they were not cordial with him. Immediately, he turned off the transponder on his ship before it could signal who they were. "Lets hope they don't ask anything!" he chuckled.

Jeh'Kant aimed to play it cool as he glanced around at the remnants of what Coruscant had become. It was a lot dimmer than before as many of the zones had been blacked out. He had heard about the fall of Coruscant but he had no idea it had come to this. Nearly half of the sectors seemed to have been blacked out. It wasn't long before his eyes caught a hold of the abandoned Jedi Temple, serving as a beacon as it called its name.

Hyperspace, 11th day of 11th month, the Jewel of the Galaxy

As the ship would leave the hyperspace and enter the Coruscant system, their first problem would emerge immediately—the lack of preparation by the young Jedi. It became imminent to Huyang, who himself was immensely familiar with Jedi traveling protocol, that one would be wiser to leave hyperspace when close to the edge of a solar system, solely for surveillance and counter-surveillance purposes. This protocol was broken immediately. As soon as Huyang’s updated acoustic sensors picked up the young Jedi’s remark on the fleet ahead of them, he turned his now well oiled head as his ocular sensors would indicate nothing but annoyance as he would frown at the Jedi.

1700862957890.jpeg

”You aren’t quite the brightest Jedi I’ve worked with, sir Kai. Your master was certainly brighter.”

He uttered through his vocal processors with his usual brutal honesty as he now turned his sensors back to the task ahead—the fleet, or what little was left of it. The sole purpose of this fleet was to keep unwanted quests or rather hopeful immigrants away. There was a reason why the many warlords occupying the many expansion and Outer Rim sectors never wandered to Coruscant or the areas of the Alliance Remnant, but that was something for a later discussion. His acoustic sensors quickly picked up a beep from their comms terminal as his frown would become even more imminent. His mechanical hand reached out for a control panel, and he’d press to answer the call.

He however was well prepared for something like this. After his stint with Ahsoka Tano, Huyang updated his vocal control unit to include a plethora of different voice options—recorded voices of former Stormtroopers of the Galactic Empire to emulate generic male sounds. ”This is Captain Herd of the Coruscant Defense Fleet, please turn on your transponder or inform us your clearance codes for identification.” Turning the transponder back on wasn’t an option as it’d likely reveal their actual identity, but he indeed had acquired clearance codes on his many previous travels to Coruscant. Suddenly, his vocal processors would produce a sound of a so-called hired gun from Kessel, sounding like your typical thug.

”This is Tresh Val, lane guard of the Spacing Guild, Perlemian trade route. My clearance code is HC6578. As you know, we don’t have transponders… It’d ruin the element of surprise when catching immigrants, you know.”

Huyang’s ocular sensors would then indicate slight worry and hopefulness at the same time—he knew he used actual data. But, it wasn’t a given that they’d believe him. ”Have many pleasures on Coruscant, Lieutenant Val.” The captain responded as the comm call ended, with Huyang almost sighing from relief. He’d then once again turn his sight on the young Jedi, seeing that he was quite perplexed from seeing Coruscant.

”As you can see, Coruscant isn’t the same as it was when you were in the Jedi Temple. Half the population is currently homeless. If you wish, I can explain why. However, I instruct you to land near the lower levels of the Senate District, there you won’t see anyone stealing our ship at least.”

1049 ABY, 11th Day of 11th Month

Bereon Vyr was still in a state of deep thought as his mind's eye continued to skim through all the visions he had previously had until suddenly the former Shadow could feel a subtle change in the Force. And oddly enough it was a sensation granted by the arrival of a presence that was vaguely familiar, which caused Bereon to interrupt his process entirely as he looked outward with a sense of curiosity of the new arrival that had undoubtedly just arrived in Coruscant. Although for a moment he knew not what to make of this untimely phenomenon, thus causing him to also address the current situation with a hint of skepticism.

"Surely it can't be…", He thought.

Immediately he began to delve into the usage of his most favored technique as his very essence within the Force itself began to shrink rapidly until it had achieved singularity within the smallest possible microcosm, effectively rendering him near non-existent to the senses of those without the capacity to also utilize The Art Of The Small. Simultaneously he had now also achieved a state in which he could now perceive the world at a molecular level through his mind's eye. He favored this technique above all others that his Master had taught him due to the unparalleled abilities in both stealth and sensory that it left at his disposal. And once Bereon could feel that his state of being could not possibly condense down any further he would then attempt to utilize his further enhanced senses to further identify the composition of this arrivals unique Force essence and then attach it to a familiar face. And within a matter of moments his mind's eye through the will of the Force began to reconstruct the image of an old acquaintance that he had last seen when he was but a mere youngling.

"So Cain's precocious little brat lived to become a man even through these trying times? Might he perhaps be the answer I've been seeking?"

A minor smirk began to appear on his face as his cloaked figure that was now unable to be perceived by the wider world beyond the temple would begin his hunt anew; carefully monitoring his quarry as he felt him begin his descent deeper into the depths of a Coruscant that would certainly soon prove alien to the returning Jedi...

Jeh’Kant chuckled as he responded to Huyang, “Careful now Huyang,” he said with a smile plastered on his face “We wouldn’t want to stop by a metal disposal site and your remains be sold for scrap metal now would we?” Huyang answered the call while Jeh’Kant pondered how they would escape the situation if need be. He glanced around at the surroundings to see which evasive maneuvering would work best for them. However, much to his surprise, his eyes affixed themselves on Huyang astonished as he manipulated his vocal professors to impersonate a thug. Without much resistance they responded welcoming them onto Coruscant. “Good job, Lieutenant Val.”

Jeh’Kant steered the ship towards the Senate District and as the ship descended he took all that Coruscant was no longer upclose. The hum of the ship echoed throughout the area until he found a suitable location to set the ship down. “So what happened here Huyang?” His curiosity got the best of him and as Huyang would answer he would’ve begun the descent pulling back the accelerator so slow the ship down. A few switches were clicked and not before long they had descended and landed in the lower levels of the Senate District.

The man would unbuckle his seatbelt as he switched off a few more switches before leaving the cockpit and making his way toward the boarding ramp. “I’m not sure where exactly he is,” Jeh’Kant said out loud, “But I do know he is here. However, I have the feeling that he may know we’re already here.” Jeh’Kant clicked a button near the boarding ramp as the began to open slowly.

1049 ABY, nightfall, 11th day of 11th month, the fallen city

”I am programmed to be honest, sir Kai. Disposing of me would reduce your chances of completing this mission to a very accurate zero. However, I am positive we can work together despite minor inconveniences. Also, thank you sir.”

1701032879883.jpeg

Huyang’s vocal processors returned back to normal as evidenced by his rather humorous remark. He switched off the primary engines of the ship to save fuel while descending into the atmosphere of Coruscant, all the while maintaining stabilizers to ensure that they’d land safely. SB-33, their helpful astromech droid, would perform required adjustments on their hyperdrive in the meanwhile since their next destination would require a greater power output than usual. As he worked, he turned his ocular sensors back on the young Jedi as he proceeded to explain the descent and ruin of the planet that was once the crown jewel of the galaxy.

”Coruscant grew flooded with refugees during the war, and as it ended, a majority had to remain without a way out. That resulted in civil unrest and armed conflict, and with the many underworld organizations taking control in the lower levels of the city, many died. Along with population zones. Those living in the higher levels, especially the ruling echelon, only profited from this escalation and chose to employ these organizations to maintain the chaos which is still taking place, after all these years.”

That chaos was the same
chaos that reigned in the entire galaxy—warlords and organized criminal groups plundered and ruled across the majority of the expansion region and the outer rim. And the only ones who benefited were the richest, ruling echelon that enjoyed their skyline views. The warlords got their equipment from the Corellian Shipyards, a fact known by almost no-one. The Hutt Cartel funded the production of their equipment, and profited from all the plundering they conducted. As such, most of the known galactic regions were controlled and ruled by the corrupt remnant of the Galactic Alliance and the Hutt Cartel, using the Spacing Guild as a medium. As their ship landed, Huyang walked right behind the young Jedi to the vile streets that were populated by the homeless—people who were already too tired to fight for their homes. The old Jedi Temple wasn’t far away, however, Huyang already had a clue of which Jedi Jeh’Kant spoke about.

”Sir Kai, I believe I know the Jedi you speak of. And if he does expect us, he won’t be very warm in his welcome.”

Huyang uttered through his vocal processors as he kept his sensory array ready for any surprises, knowing that their possible ally could surprise them at any moment.

As the pair had made their descent and allowed themselves to step out of their ship, within those same moments a still shrouded Bereon would allow himself to take a step off the edge of a cliff thus allowing himself to become subject to the whims of gravity as his form shot straight down like a bullet after his prey. Though slightly altering his flight path by extending his wings out from his cloak to guide him forth into the beginning of an arcing motion. He could as clear as day sense their tension as it appeared evident that they were equally as wary of him as he was of them. To the more experienced Jedi this confirmed the suspicion that he held that they had more than likely arrived on Coruscant in such a manner to seek him out specifically. And if such was indeed the case then perhaps it was the will of the Force for them to cross paths.

“Then let's see what a former comrade’s little pup can do,” He thought as he began to close in at a rapidly increasing speed. Once he was halfway through his arcing motion he would again change direction just merely a few feet from the ground as the still hidden Jedi would release his Art Of The Small technique, and thus unveiling his Force Essence, in the same motion as he unveiled his lightsaber pike hugged in tight to his body with both hands, and now spiraling wildly past Huyang from above and directly towards Jeh’Kant's back to unleash Sai Cha, an aerial decapitating strike that could only be uniquely utilized by a master of Trispzest.

Bereon could only hope that the boy was indeed brought to him by the will of the Force and not by coincidence, otherwise this would be a very brief reunion…

"Well, I can't say I'm surprised." Jeh'Kant responded to Huyang's brief about Coruscant. "The rich somehow still remain to stay greedy despite having so much. It's the same cycle, over and over again." By the time he had finished his sentence, Huyang had also clicked a few buttons on the ship to assist with the descent. As they went through their process and the boarding ramp opening, Huyang spoke up about the Jedi we were here to meet. "You're not wrong. So lets make sure we keep an eye out for any shenanigans." Jeh'Kant was the first of the two to start walking down the boarding ramp as he assumed Huyang would follow behind keeping an eye out. However, visuals were not the only thing they would have to worry about with this Jedi.

As they continued walking, it didn't take long for Bereon to make his presence made aware. Unlike Bereon, Jeh'Kant had no intent on having an all out combat sequence between the two. Just as Bereon made himself evident, Jeh'Kant had picked up on his presence and turned toward him. What he found was the Jedi unleashing his lightsaber pike and coming forward with a Sai Cha. Swiftly, and nimble as ever, Jeh'Kant ducked the decapitating strike all while moving toward the outside of Bereon's body. (Which ever way you swung from, would be the way Jeh'Kant would step). At the same moment, Jeh'Kant's hand would project towards Bereon's wrist all in one fluid motion from the duck, step, and grip. Had the Jedi not maneuvered correctly, he'd find his movement halted and his wrist held with an unnatural strength. "You know I thought that with age, one becomes wiser." just as he spoke Jeh'Kant's free hand balled up into a fist and shot toward Bereon's cheek with enough power to no only daze him, but fracture all the tiny cheek bones in his face and send him back flying. "I guess you're the outlier, huh?"

1049 ABY, nightfall, 11th day of 11th month, Coruscant, the Jedi duel

1701293258353.jpeg

Huyang kept all of his non-ocular sensors wary of any possible incoming attacks while his ocular sensors were fixated on their surroundings—more than anything, on the hundreds of homeless people that were scattered across the streets. The center of the galactic civilization had turned into a reflection of what it had become, dystopian and nearing death. However, not all hope was lost. That was why they were here. He registered all of what Jeh’Kant had just said while walking forward, with his vocal processors firing to respond.

”Affirmative. SB-33 should update us if anythi-”

Huyang paused his speech as his sensors picked up an unknown object descending on them, or sir Kai to be exact. Huyang barely had time to react, as he’d swiftly move to the side as he witnessed a hooded figure slashing at the young Kai—it was another Jedi.

”Bereon Vyr, always as pleasant.”

His vocal processors uttered as he’d briefly continued to analyze the skirmish in front of him, giving him necessary data on the state of the Jedi lightsaber combat.

Bereon made no attempts to respond to the quip, though in actuality he was far too locked in on his current quarry to pay it any second thought. Merely for the fact that that had always been a part of the younger Jedi’s personality even as a youngling. Jeh’Kant had always been one to speak in jest no matter how out of turn it might’ve seemed at any given time. Though with his natural charisma, and at the time to the older Jedi’s own personal chagrin, it always seemed to be enough to allow the brat to escape any of his then superiors’ ire. Unfortunately for him the most unwise thing here would be misunderstanding the fact that words meant nothing until a battle was over.

However it did indeed peak his intrigue at the fact that the young man had managed to not only evade his strike, but also managed to stop his momentum somewhat despite their drastic difference in size and the sheer weight behind his strike. Unfortunately that didn’t prevent Bereon from shifting mid-air right into his next maneuver to tilt his head at the point of contact, thus effectively allowing him to reduce the force of the blow almost entirely by rolling with it, which also naturally would cause many a combatant to overextend via shifting their weight forward to commit to striking a target that was offering minimal resistance, and in that same instance this allowed him to proceed to roll the elbow of his gripped right wrist forward, and bare a large trio of razor sharp spike like protrusions through his cloak toward Jeh’Kant’s upper chest whilst his massive right wing would sweep behind his back to block his escape at the rear as it would also assist to pull him forward further to this close range stabbing technique.

Should the younger of the two Jedi not respond in time, then this sudden counter-offensive could potentially result in Jeh’Kant Kai being fatally skewered...

What an interesting sequence of events. Here they had come to recruit this Jedi in order to assist with this mission, yet here he was partaking in a trivial moment of combat. What was the point of this? Was this to show the fossil was superior? Had he not engaged in combat for so long that he had some lust for it? Jeh’Kant had a flurry of questions, but when he noticed that the opposer was not backing down and insisting on making this violent, he would not ask anything, only return the same violence back onto him.

Despite the difference in age, and the magnitude of experience Bereon Vyr had over Jeh’Kant Kai, there were several important factors that separated them in terms of power. The innate talent Jeh’Kant Kai possessed was the reason Master Cain had selected him as his padawan. Jeh’Kant, prodigal in the usage and aspects of the Force, was a combat machine before he had decided to calm himself and become more attuned to the Force. However, those skills are never something that fade away. All that is necessary is tapping into it. Without so much of an expression, the cold-blooded Jeh’Kant immediately shifted into full concentration in dispatching him with utmost prejudice and efficiency.

Bereon Vyr had made the mistake of allowing Jeh’Kant to grab a hold of him because as soon as he did, a slight wiring and hum noise would originate from that exact hand. The unruly strength that Jeh’Kant had grabbed him with should have been a clear indicator that this was not a normal grip. The noise of mechanics locking into position was quick and apparent as the hand would grip down violently without a single care of what natural defenses Bereon Vyr had. It didn’t matter the strength and durability of the man one bit, making the prosthetic hand mindless in that sense and only an instrument in carnage. The hand would shatter through any bones with incredible ease. It was fortunate that the man was of another species because had it been a human hand it would shatter the bone to a fine dust. However, for Bereon, it would merely cause multiple broken bones and injured ligaments. Regardless, it would be extremely painful.

However, this was nowhere the end and it was merely the beginning of the onslaught that was to come. Bereon has miscalculated under the belief that the punch Jeh’Kant had thrown was a mild haymaker that rolling with the punch would cause his base to become susceptible to being taken advantage of. Jeh’Kant was a masterful combatant and a master in using acrobatic movements and taking from various angles to pressure the opponent. Just as Bereon began to roll with the punch, Jeh’Kant would call an audible and instead of following through with the punch he’d halt his movement right before Bereon’s neck, straighten his hand, and send a vicious Force enhanced “chop” to the neck region of Bereon. Had this maneuver been successful, Bereon would be gasping for air.

Yet, even with these two sequences occurring, Jeh’Kant was not done as it was immediately followed Jeh’Kant shifting his base so that his foot was behind Bereon’s as he used the hand that sent to chop his extended hand would then send a vicious backhanded slap into Bereon’s sternum which would essentially force him to lose his balance and fall backwards. Only then, would Jeh’Kant let go of the man’s wrist as he was sent backwards a few feet creating distance between them too. Jeh’Kant would not say a single word as he adjusted his body so that he would be facing Bereon. Expressionless eyes, expression face — it was as if he was something else entirely simply waiting for Bereon to do something incorrect so he could dispatch him once again.

Huyang, the Professor

1049 ABY, nightfall, 11th day of 11th month, Coruscant, Duel of the Jedi

1701810499832.jpeg

Although Huyang couldn’t truly feel, his processors couldn’t quite read the sensor data before him without being utterly confused by the actions of the two Jedi ahead of him. He certainly knew that Bereon was one to look for, but to witness the young Kai acting in such a manner had him believe that he found and recruited no Jedi for his task. His ocular sensors only pictured someone that only resembled a Jedi, but no longer was one. Time would tell whether either of them could be what they trained as, and lived as, in the past. In slight disarray, the old architect droid tried to wave at the two dueling Jedi ahead of him in order to stop their fight. If it lasted much longer, the risk of them getting caught was more than sufficient for them to never leave Coruscant again. He wasn’t worried by the homeless, but the many other agents of surveillance that operated all across the ecumenopolis.

”Sir Kai, Sir Vyr, if.. I’d hoped you’d save your aggression for our enemies to be entirely honest.”

Huyang spoke through his vocal processors as he tried to get their attention by waving both of his arms erratically, on purpose. In the meanwhile, aside from Huyang, the only member of the party that tried to get something done correctly was SB-33. The astromech operated in and around the Star of Tython, surveilling the sensors and making sure their ship remained safe. Huyang’s fears became realized as a surveillance droid flew past their ship, slowly while turning its sensors on the duel only a few blocks ahead. The surveillance droid certainly saw enough—a Jedi-looking figure with a saber spear, fighting another Jedi-looking man. It quickly flew away, as SB-33 reacted promptly while releasing a few erratic beeps from it’s sound processors before heading off to reach the ships cockpit in order to signal the young Jeh’Kant of a potential surveillance droid sighting. The droid quickly accessed a link within the control dashboard to alert the young Jedi, hoping that he’d react to his distress message.

Bereon Vyr would be successfully bombarded with a flurry of strikes that would send him flying back. Jeh’Kant hadn’t even needed a lightsabers, but then again Bereon Vyr was unworthy of Jeh’Kant brandishing his lightsabers. The expressionless face continued to remain plastered on his face as he stared at Bereon Vyr to see what exactly the creature would do. At the same time, Jeh’Kant Kai received the distress signal coming from the ship as he immediately covered the area around the nano-earpiece so no other sound would disturb it. His eyes shifted over toward Huyang, who was a few feet behind Bereon Vyr, as he spoke about what had happened.

“That was SB33 with a distress signal. A surveillance drone marked the ship and the two of us, we’ll have to move quickly.” The Jedi Master continued speaking, “What are our options, Huyang?” Jeh’Kant’s eyes began to look around at the surroundings as he dipped into the Force to search for any irregularities and danger while he waited for Huyang’s response.

Huyang, the Professor

1049 ABY, nightfall, 11th day of 11th month, Coruscant, Duel of the Jedi

1702074144668.jpeg

The fight didn’t quite end well. Although Huyang couldn’t sense the Force, his ocular sensors saw the same coldness and ferocity in the young Kai as he once saw in his master—Cain Farr. He was among the greatest Jedi of his generation, however far more intense than a Jedi was ever allowed to be. And that quality perhaps worried Huyang, but it was a discussion that wasn’t of essence now. There were more pressing matters at hand, such as their safety and the possible injuries that Bereon Vyr suffered from their encounter. Leaving him behind would be a security risk if anything, and against the Jedi protocol. Huyang turned his ocular sensors on Jeh’Kant, as his vocal processors began generating voice.

”Finally I got your attention, sir Kai. Our only option is to flee, but we must take Bereon with us. Leaving behind a Jedi is against the protocol, and him revealing our identity to local authorities will likely result in a disaster. Suggestion, we take him with us. His skills will be of essence to our mission.”

Huyang lamented. In the meanwhile, SB-33 would register an incoming platoon of Coruscanti security forces arriving from the north of their position, and being but seconds away from Jeh’Kant, Huyang and Bereon. To make their departure even harder, another platoon would be only a minute away from the position of their ship.

”It also seems we’ve got company!”

Huyang would shout through his vocal processors, as a platoon of one-hundred security troopers would begin raining blaster fire upon their position from sixty meters away.

It had been quite a while since Bereon had experienced a single soul who could repel an assault from an assassin of his magnitude. Though like any Shadow his reasons for doing anything he did were often not quite like they seemed. With the appearance of Cain Farr’s youngling emerging after so long he merely wanted to test if his surviving for those few decades was by his own ability or by sheer luck. Many fine Jedi had perished twenty years ago despite being considered quite the talents in their own right. Jeh’Kant’s Master included among them. However he was satisfied to know that the younger human was indeed capable, although a bit arrogant to assume that the older Stenax had taken the conflict seriously considering his purposeful telegraph to reveal his position prior to his initial strike.

The moment his large bulk had come into contact with the concrete he had already instinctively begun utilizing the other unique aspect of the Art Of The Small’s capacity to alter one’s body at the cellular level. A process that Bereon’s own Master had forced him to undertake thousands of times before to allow himself the ability to fight for extended periods of time despite catastrophic injuries by simply disabling his pain receptors whilst he slowly allowed the Force to flow through him, and grant him the ability to begin rapidly increasing his own body’s natural healing processes.

“You worry too much as always Huyang,” Bereon spoke unbothered by the quickly unfolding predicament they now found themselves in. Springing almost immediately back to his feet as he wielded his saber pike singlehandedly with his unbroken left arm in tight sweeping arcs to deflect blaster fire from both himself and Huyang with extreme precision.

“I’ll provide cover to our rear flank as we make way back to your ship boy,” the elder Jedi Master said to Jeh’Kant as priorities shifted to the new task of fending off the Coruscanti security forces.

There were a plethora of concerns that had arisen in the short amount of time they’ve been here. There was a platoon not far from their ship location giving them less than a minute before they’re without a doubt stranded. Then there was the platoon that had just rained down blaster fire which he evasively maneuvered out the way of. Bereon Vyr had successfully also managed to save himself and Huyang from the blaster fire, but Jeh’Kant wasn’t sold on the idea of them running from the platoon from above. That would only lead them back to the ship and the take off would be even more challenging. They required an opening.

Jeh’Kant channeled the Force all throughout him before releasing a powerful shockwave without enough power to cause the debris and dirt from the surrounding area to rise above and create a sort of smoke cloud that would waft thoroughly across the area and into the alleyway, similar to a barren wasteland with a desert storm. Jeh’Kant trusted his sense in the Force that he would be able to successfully dodge the blaster fire if they continued to rain down upon them. He also trusted that Bereon Vyr would be able to do the same thing as well. However, as the cloud of dust veiled their exact positions, there was an opening that they’d take full advantage of.

“When I say run for the ship,” Jeh’Kant spoke calmly and poised as always. “Run for the ship.” As he said the last words to Bereon Vyr and Huyang, Jeh’Kant stretched his hand out and waved at the position of the troopers that had been firing upon them. Immediately after, three figures that appeared to be Huyang, Bereon Vyr, and Jeh’Kant shot through the cloud of smoke and glided across the streets without so much as disturbing any scene of the environment. Mind Trick was a powerful thing. This opening, had the troopers shot at the ethereal beings would be the moment Jeh’Kant would speak again. “Now!” As he ran toward the ship as fast as he could. His hope was that with the troopers attention focussed on the phantoms, they’d be able to successfully get to the ship before the other platoon arrived.

“SB-33 get the ship ready, we're almost there!”

Huyang, the Professor

1049 ABY, nightfall, 11th day of 11th month, Coruscant, the Escape

In but a flash, the scenery turned into quite a battlefield. Blaster fire rained all across and the homeless Coruscanti scattered and ran away from the streets in disarray, a silent alley quickly turned chaotic. But, Huyang was well aware of the probability of something like this happening far prior to their arrival. It was almost inevitable. Bereon acted according to protocol and provided defense on the rear, however Jeh’Kant proved once again to be his master's apprentice—doing something quite out of the box and with convincing power. Huyang saw much of Cain within the young Jedi, however much remained to be seen and to be proven. Seeing as how the troopers began shooting in an entirely different direction, he was convinced that young Kai managed to utilize the old fashioned Jedi Mind Trick on the entire platoon. In the midst of smoke was their opportunity, and as soon as he registered young Kai’s command to run—he did as told. As he began running, hydraulic humming and clanking could be heard rhythmically as they presumably all ran towards the direction of their ship.

”The platoon still hasn’t reached our ships position, we might just make it in time.”

Huyang generated calm speech through his vocal processors once again, all the while his ocular sensors noticed their ship being ready for launch, being that SB-33 followed Jeh’Kants orders well. Wasting no time, Huyang ran into the ship and ran directly to the cockpit, sitting on the co-pilot’s seat. He quickly began managing controls and setting necessary coordinates for departures, stabilizing the primary engines for a takeoff.

”Conclusion, we have to get into the orbit immediately.”

Huyang uttered, as he waited for both Jeh’Kant and Bereon to take their positions in the ship as well.
