They weren't in Hyperspace for long and over in the same amount of time it had taken them to leap into Hyperspace. A quick glance at the map and he could tell they were just about coming up on their destination. "Get ready everyone, we're almooooost there."

Hyperspace, 11th day of 11th month, the journey

1700862709420.jpeg

Huyang stared through the window of the cockpit with his ocular sensors while constantly monitoring their grid position, as the hue of blue and dark reflected off of his metallic shell. Hyperspace itself was quite fascinating, a separate dimension within space itself—the sole reason hyperdrives were required was for the spaceships to access this realm. And traveling in hyperspace wasn’t as simple as it seemed to most, there were select lanes and pathways that one could use between two planetary systems or longer routes if they sought for safe travel. If the hyperspace coordinates included risks of gravitational anomalies of real space that could affect the hyperspace, they weren’t worth taking as it would mean instant oblivion. While he did his monitoring, SB-33 performed regular maintenance on him and even updated the programming of his acoustic sensors up to date. As it seemed, they had nearly arrived in the Coruscant system.

Hyperspace, 1049 ABY, nightfall, 11th day of 11th month, the reckoning

1701091575623.png

The many corridors and chambers across the battlecruiser were filled with either troopers, officers or maintenance personnel—all of them operating and conducting their work. The corridors were pristine, without a single spot of dirt in sight. Verus was greeted by all personnel he encountered, not out of sheer respect or loyalty, but out of fear.

1701091629130.jpeg

Verus then proceeded to open the blast doors to his own quarters, utilizing an access panel on the wall that only reacted to his finger print. His room was just as pristine and orderly as the rest of the ship, however comfortable. It included a bed, a large wall-spanning mirror, a secure communications screen on the wall, food, beverages and a dining table with chairs. It also included a meditation circle, upon which he often spent time.

1701091709486.jpeg

As he entered the room, he’d immediately walk to his table to reach for his holo terminal for access. After accessing it with his right hand, the terminal would permit his use as it’d recognize his finger print. The terminal would then project a living image of a elderly man in his seventies, dressed in an uniform with various insignia and decorations placed across the right side of his chest and shoulders. It was Admiral Raius, calling him from his ship, the Blade of Corellia, as he was joined by his guard and trusted officers beside him. The presence of others didn’t bother Verus, but he saw it as a clear sign of distrust—which he however accepted, as Raius and his forces were indeed disposable at the end.

1701091729452.jpeg

”Admiral Raius, Lieutenant Rial, I salute you. I hope that the presence of my apprentice doesn’t bother you.”

Uttered Verus, while his tone was truly one of respect—it also included a tint of ire. He respected Raius, and his intellect more than anything. In that respect he believed they were equal and rather immensely similar, however it was Raius’ attitude and lack of faith in the Force that set them apart.

”Lord Verus, I congratulate you and your apprentice for your success on Belsavis. With the Key now in our possession we are a step closer to finally right the wrongs of the Galactic Alliance and the New Republic before them.” Raius remarked, his voice dry and aged. His troops and lieutenants would clap in applause behind him. ”However, Ensign Fenec sent me the enemy communication logs. On top of that, my mechanics happened to find a tracking device on the ship that was used by our envoy. Therefore, I believe you were too lenient on not attacking the village outright.” Raius remarked, as if belittling Verus. It was indeed perhaps a risky maneuver, however even if their enemies knew the location of Vaiken Prime, the base of the White Hand, it would only play to their advantage.

”Admiral Raius, I am surprised you’ve missed the mark. Now that our enemy knows your location, we may as well use it to our advantage and stop them in their trails. I believe that allowing the ship to be tracked comes down to the adequacy of your troops, not so much the strategy.”

Verus countered, as if playing a game of chess with Raius. As he had said his words, Lieutenant Rial who stood beside Raius decided to overstep his authority, and not for his own good. ”Our troops?! We’ve train-” his disoriented shouting was put to a halt, as sounds of gurgling and choking resonated through the holo terminal. Everyone but Raius himself were floating in the air, being choked by the dark phantom grasp initiated by Lord Verus as he reached out to them through the Force from across the galaxy. All it took him was visual contact. ”Enough, Lord Verus. I pardon for the interruption, you are dismissed Lieutenant Rial. Now, you are correct. What do you suggest?” Raius, although belittled those who wielded the Force—he feared it just as the rest of them. He dismissed his troops, who’d leave the holographic discussion rather quick. Verus let out a brief laugh, as he proceeded to speak.

”I suggest a trap. Leave a garrison on Vaiken Prime, and abandon it. With the Key in our grasp, you no longer need your base of operations.”

Verus uttered with utmost intent and depth, as if commanding Raius. He took the upper hand in the discussion.

At last, she finally could find familiarity and it felt even better with the key being in their possession now. Things were going according to plan, and it felt satisfying to her in any kind of way. She was honestly in a very good mood, so much so that she barely paid any mind to the personnel who would drop any task, halt any conversation or movement as they saw how Lord Verus passed them just to greet him. She knew too, that the very reason that it was not because they loved him, or that they respected him as a leadership figure, but it was out of fear. Fortunately for Anathema, she could not entirely relate to their personnel in that case. To her, Verus was the man who raised her and gave her nothing but opportunities, and that only made her admire him. The only fear she ever had was to disappoint him, but she would do anything to prevent that.

She followed behind him, eyes straight to the path with no regard or sympathy for their personnel as she entered the quarters of her master. From the moment she entered the room, she placed herself beside Verus, as she watched the projection appear of an elderly man, Admiral Raius who dialed from his own ship. She saw it was not just him, but also some officers behind him. From there, the conversation between her master and Raius began, one that from the first sentence alone did not seem promising for Raius and his crew. It seemed to go south very quickly, as Anathema watched how the crew behind Raius were struggling to breathe and stand on their feet as they floated while being choked. At that moment, while usually being capable of controlling her expressions she looked quite impressed and a little shocked at how things escalated.

“So you suggest I’d sacrifice my base and an entire regiment worth of troops as a decoy? A trap? Verus, I have utmost respect for your military mind, knowing your experience. However, you know we have little troops to spare.” Admiral Raius uttered in his dry and aged voice, questioning the rationale behind Verus’ strategy. The strategy was entirely viable however, at least in Verus’ mind. With the artifact, they’d soon access a virtually unlimited pool of forces and a means to build a fleet that could easily outnumber even that of the Tengean Invasion fleet. If their enemy was indeed on their trail, it would be best if they were diverted from their true plan.

”Yes, Raius. Leave a garrison powerful enough to create an illusion that your base still matters, while the majority of your fleet and forces would join us in our attack. Our enemy will know of our plans regardless, however we don’t want them present when we begin the next phase of our strategy.”

Admiral Raius listened to Verus, now with rekindled interest and even respect if one may judge. “Very well. And… I personally decoded the communications log, it seems that the resistance on Belsavis was part of the Path of Ashla. They contacted someone on Ossus, hence we may assume that our enemies are.. Jedi.” Raius uttered with his aged voice, and his emphasis on the word Jedi couldn’t be ignored. He uttered it with worry, as he should. Verus however took the news with as if joy, relishing in the fact that their opposition might be worthy.

“Ah… But isn’t that a wonderful development? The last of the Jedi banding together to be destroyed.”

Verus uttered with utmost interest. Raius responded swiftly, and with more caution to his words than his counterpart. And rightfully so. ”The Jedi are historically quite successful in foiling operations such as ours. Thus, I will make necessary preparations to stop them in their tracks. I presume we will meet at the rendezvous point Cresh. Farewell, Lord Verus.” Raius ended the call for the sake of required preparation. Verus then turned to his apprentice, and although she couldn’t see his face behind the mask, he was smiling ominously. The air in his chambers quickly turned colder as from him merely thinking about the possibility of facing the Jedi.

“My apprentice, it seems we must resume your training soon. If our enemies are indeed Jedi, we have to assume that our strength will be put to a much needed test. However, first we shall regroup at home before we move on. And judging by the deceleration of our ship… That should happen soon.”

Verus uttered as he heard that the silent humming of their primary engines ended, meaning that the ship was ready to leave hyperspace and enter the vicinity of their hidden home, planet Udunn, the heart of all darkness in the galaxy.

LadyAnathemaFullB2.png
She did not understand the whole issue with her master's plan, she thought it was quite brilliant and she thought it was weird they were so shocked and opposed to it. Fortunately, they did not seem ignorant for long and started seeing how this would play in their favor instead of the ones they were dealing with. The Jedi… Anathema tilted her head slightly as her eyes slightly largened when their enemy was revealed, not out of fear, not even of shock but rather interest. In her existing years, she never encountered any Jedi as she was not ready, but there were not many of them lingering around… so it was said. To hear that there were Jedi who were about to cross paths with them made her a little excited in a way. She was particularly interested in them because of her master's past, she knew how powerful they were and always wanted to rival them in strength. Perhaps, the rival might not even be correct anymore… for now, she wanted to grow even more powerful. Especially, because of historical events where Jedi had succeeded in foiling the plans of the dark side’s organizations.

Anathema turned to Verus as he turned to her once the call was ended between them and Raius. She could tell, even without being able to see his face that he was psyched by the thought of facing Jedi, probably more than her considering his past. They were about to arrive on the home planet, Udun, very soon, and her master declared it was time to resume her training. Something she looked forward to even more than ever.

“Yes, master.”

Huyang, the Professor

1049 ABY, midnight, 12th day of 11th month, Hyperspace

1703022814719.jpeg

Huyang monitored the condition of their hyperdrive engines along the rest of the system to make sure that no damage was taken during the skirmish on Coruscant, only to release a mechanical sigh that was certainly not typical to the old droid. He, in his own way, felt relief. But he also processed the chances of their next mission turning into a failure. He concluded that the chances of their success were slim, and they’d likely need all the help they could have to survive their mission. Their success would determine the survival of the entire galaxy. Huyang briefly turned his ocular sensors on Jeh’Kant, looking at him with certain happiness and pride.

”If I must be honest, sir Kai, you’ve reminded me a lot of your master. You’ve done well.”

He uttered through his vocal processors, as he turned his vision slightly over his co-pilots bench.

”And you did good as well, sir Vyr. You both should rest now that we’re in hyperspace. Once we’ll arrive to our destination, we’ll have a far more difficult mission on our hands.”

Huyang lamented yet again, as he briefly utilized his link to access the ships’ terminal yet again—this time to send a message to his allies in the Coalition, without notifying his Jedi colleagues of this development. The Coalition is a restoration movement led by Juno Erella, a former senator of the Galactic Alliance turned into a guerilla fighter and a military commander. The purpose of the coalition is to restore the government of the Galactic Alliance and repair the damage caused by the Great Collapse. The Coalition is comprised of personal militaries of former ex-senators and commanders of the Galactic Alliance and the military of the Mandalorian hegemony. The Coalition is partnered with the Path of Ashla, a network led by the architect droid Huyang.

The confidence she held slowly drained along the training session. It did not matter how he thought things through or whatever move she made, her movements were predicted until the end. With her last movement, she wanted to see if perhaps it was possible that she could attack before her master would predict her movements, however, her speed did not matter because, in the end, he was able to see anything she plotted no matter what she did. His words that critiqued her only appeared as a mockery to her, once again she would need to withhold her composure and keep her mind calm, but her patience was slowly running out with every attempt she made. Not too long ago, she was sure she had progressed far more than her previous achievements over the years… but it seemed her lack of tapping into the force was holding her back.

Right as she dashed forward, she saw only a movement of his hand as they started to glow in crimson-colored electric sparks, his index finger turning crimson. For fuck sake! Is he planning on murdering me?! She had to change her plans and adjust to the sudden attack her master was about to hit her with, if she did not she would not make it to the next day. She held back her extended arms and spinned her wielded hand’s wrist carrying the lightsaber in a circular motion as if to mimic some sort of shield. Her lightsaber braced and took on the lightning barrage that her master charged upon her. For a moment, she grew anxious believing if she would ever so slightly halter her movements or slow down she would get hit by the lightning. Then, a shimmering globe of energy started surrounding her physique, causing the lightning to be deflected from her as the lightning started moving around like crazy in the room like a bouncing ball. Her stance then lowered as she fell to her knees and hid in her little bubble as she tried to use all of her power to block any type of strike away from her.

At that same time, while Anathema tried her hardest to protect herself from potential fatality the station jumped into hyperspace, and they started to leave Udunn and head to the Corellian system.

Lord Verus, Master of the Order of Bogan

The Starforge, Hyperspace, 1049 ABY, midnight, 12th day of 11th month, End of the Lesson

Z7SLu0MV4RLZ11yXes2p-Y-cU69pS2FBDUdEVApgIeU6ww8ab9PLTmwVIbplMBfFOqPvsUN3p1yzwfJxPSnIDGNzPr-JqCVhDOgMjpbMDaPEtLV_GIC9D4rfseqQ8Sus6WKeMUIAZUQ-YU-OuK3mXO4

The lesson was finally coming to a fitting end. Verus felt her every thought and emotion, and he finally achieved what he sought after; the fear of death. Pushing her to her limits, to the point of being able to break her if he only so wished. However, he had no such need. He did what was necessary. He saw her resolve and ability to retain her calm in a situation where she was vastly overwhelmed. She passed her test, and thus the lightning that shot from his hands ended as soon as she indeed succumbed to her knees. His entire aura seemed to switch in a split second, shifting from the murderous dark lord to his usual, well-intended self. Beneath his mask he smiled with warmth, as if giving his apprentice a sign of approval for her performance. He reached out his right hand out to her with his palm open, inviting her to take his hand so that he could help her to stand up.

“You did well. Your resolve has indeed become stronger, my apprentice. We can conclude our training for now, it won’t be long until we reach Corellia.”

He spoke with warmth and his usual father-like demeanor, as he waited for his apprentice to grab his hand. And if she had any doubts, he had no ill intentions behind his outreach.

LadyAnathemaFullB2.png
Her body collapsed, and she sat on her knees while trying to keep her focus on deflecting the lighting that struck her. Soon, that same lightning in the room disappeared and she realized she no longer had to fend for herself. She could tell by the aura change of her master, only moments before she was faced with something she had grown to fear stronger than she ever had before. Now, she faced the version of her master she had grown accustomed to, the person who had looked after her all this time. Suddenly, the spinning stopped, her arms dropped to her sides from exhaustion, and her lightsaber was deactivated. She still held the emitter in her hands, as her movements stopped and the shimmering bubble that once surrounded her body disappeared moments after the lightning was gone.

Her head hung low and she was staring at the floor as she felt her heartbeat and the adrenaline that was pumping through her veins that was accelerating start to slow down. Anathema slowly raised her head once she heard her master's voice, speaking out to her as he reached out to her with an open palm wanting to help her get up. She blinked a few times.

“Thank you, Master.”

As the training started, she did not understand until the very end what the lesson was she had to learn but in the end, she was able to do it which made her feel proud somehow. Even though she could hear by the warmth in his voice and his gentle demeanor that he had no ill intentions she did hesitate a little bit. As if she was a kid who was unsure if it was okay to come out of ‘timeout’. Eventually, she did raise her hand and grabbed onto his open palm, allowing him to help her get up.

Verus grabbed Anathema’s hand and used his core to pull her up without any effort, as he then turned his sight on the corridor leading to the hangar bay from whence they came once they arrived on the station. He sensed that they were drawing near to Corellia, and he also sensed that whatever they’d encounter from now on would likely shape his fate, and moreso, Anathema’s fate which was already set in stone—at least according to the threads of destiny. Verus began walking towards the corridor, as he expected his apprentice to follow the suit. He sensed her confusion, and the fact that she didn’t quite expect to see Verus as aggressive towards her as he was. He could do little but provide his apprentice some comfort in explaining why he chose to do so, and what he was preparing her for.

”I am most sorry if I was indeed harsh in my lesson, my apprentice. However, going forward, the dangers we will face and the battles we’ll endure will be much different compared to what you’re used to. Thus, the training going forward will require similar intensity.”

Verus explained calmly, retaining his warmth and stillness in tone as he walked forward as he took a breath before continuing his speech.

”We’ll no longer be merely hunting for artifacts in some desolate villages with little to no opposition. We’ll now be facing armies, beings of great power, and even… Jedi. And those of your kind.”

He lamented, retaining his calmness without losing a step in his demeanor. In the meanwhile, as they walked through the corridor—Anathema could witness the workings of the station they resided on. The transparisteel windows on the sides of the corridor showed that the entire station was a massive factory, already producing dreadnoughts, starships and droids. However, the station required fuel to further enhance its workings. The power of a sun, and they had delicately chosen the star of the Corellian system to fuel the creation of their soon-to-be armada.

”In but hours from now, we’ll be entering a war that will engulf the world in flames that won’t be quenched until you will become what you’re meant to be, my apprentice. This is our first step.”

Verus spoke, as he walked on towards the hangar bay with the hum of the hyperdrive engines slowly quieting as their station would soon depart the realm of hyperspace.
