Force Point & Nexus Systems

Aforementioned systems are put in place in order to both motivate roleplayers of Star Wars: The New Order and limit certain scenarios where the Force might be abused as a resource beyond the limitations of the character without a valid reason for such.

The Force is essentially an NPC in the roleplay that is used to occasionally guide the characters in dire situations, give them strength or even allow certain Force spirits or ghosts to manifest to help the characters. However such instances are rare even in canon or legends and more than often manifest as a form of plot armor (Rey vs. Kylo Ren, Rey vs. Darth Sidious, etc.) and to avoid these kinds of situations no character can simply tap into the Force unreasonably by default. However each roleplayer can attain a certain amount of points per character with activity, similar to how you’d attain Karma points on Reddit or Jodel essentially. With these points you may attain buffs or perks similar to a video game experience, making the playing ground even for each and the only thing that affects your ability to gain points is your activity.

Your points will be easy to count based on the amount of posts you’ve posted on the website (aside from OOC posts), and moderators along with the admin will document each point you’ve earned in this thread.

How you gain Force points:
Character biography: 1 point
Post (1): 1 point
Every 10 posts: 2 points

These points cumulate and with these points you can gain the following perks or “buffs”. You can either save them or spend them immediately:

  • 5 points: Guidance from the Force in a form of voices to help you in a dire or a decisive situation (i.e Luke Skywalker during the Battle of Yavin receiving guidance from Obi-Wan Kenobi). These "guiding voices" may lead you to learn different things in different places (i.e Luke's travel to Dagobah), therefore it also helps you in your character development and can guide you to a place of your wish.
  • 10 points: A Force vision of the future (story-related vision, while everyone will know of the events OOC only characters with the revealed knowledge will know of these events). Keep in mind that you will only gain partial visions of the future story-events. This ability is useful considering that your character what to prepare for. These visions will be somewhat random, however essential in the context.
  • 15 points: Guidance of a Force ghost (i.e Luke Skywalker getting guidance from Obi-Wan Kenobi), you may either choose to use a dead original character close to your character or, by request, a canon character. They may also learn ancient, lost techniques from these spirits or ghosts that you'd otherwise be unable to learn.
  • 25 points: The Force will grant you more strength in dire situations for the duration of four posts, precisely two points which are distributed among the four Force-related stats of your character (i.e Rey vs. Kylo Ren on Starkiller Base).
  • 80 points: Many Force spirits or ghosts manifest to lend you strength to overcome even the most powerful opponent or the direst of situations, granting you maximum Force related stats temporarily (1 post). Sith characters are not capable of using this boost. This will however drain the character greatly after use, rendering them incapable of fighting for at least 8 posts.

Sith can achieve a similar “boost” in Force power as the last so called buff or perk, however through roleplay in itself if they are using a technique called Force walk, which allows the user to bind spirits of fallen Sith to themselves. To use this technique, one must learn it in roleplay and must find viable spirits, which will more than likely take a similar amount of time as accumulating eighty Force points. This technique also takes a great physical and mental toll, and might even lead to death if the body of the user isn’t capable of storing multiple spirits at once.

Nexus & Artifact System

The Nexus System is put in place so that Force users will not be able to abuse the effects of the Force if near a vergence or a Force nexus. As such, the rule in regard is simple; close proximity to a nexus will grant users a 1 point overall increase in terms of Force stats.

Examples of abuse: “Darth Verus would soak in the presence of the Acablas vergence, his strength doubling from what it was.”

Based on that example, you can imagine it’d make an unfair scenario in roleplay and combat. Thus, we’ll limit the impact of a vergence in roleplay and minimize its advantage.

Similarly, artifacts that may help in connecting with the Force, such as Sith amulets or ancient Jedi medallions that may have strong resonance with either side of the Force may only improve your connection with the Force (Force Connection stat) by 0,25 points, minimizing the advantage of such items. You’ll also have to acquire such items in roleplay, and can not have any ancient items of value by default initially. All advantages must be earned through roleplay.

If you’re a user of Dathomirian magick, for instance, you’re capable of using magick even off-world. If on Dathomirian soil however or have a piece of Dathomirian soil with you, your Force Connection will similarly give you a 0,25 point increase in Force Connection.
